1965 Fender Duo-Sonic II

Here we have a neat pre-CBS Duo-Sonic in faded Daphne Blue (caused by a yellowing of the clear laquer turning the colour green-ish), with an ‘L’ serial number. In my view these guitars have much to commend them. Duo-Sonics fitted in the range between the single pickup Musicmaster and the vibrato-equipped Mustang. All three 24″ scale ‘student’ guitars were intended as lower cost alternative to the more highly regarded workhorse Telecasters and Stratocasters (or upmarket Jazzmasters and Jaguars). They were built to same standards as other Fenders of the time. This example is not pristine. Apart from the discolouration, it has a ‘lived-in’ vibe that comes from being used for what it was intended – being played. However, it is an honest, original (and very cool) Duo-Sonic from the classic Leo Fender years. Now becoming increasingly sought after vintage instruments.
