Now… isn’t this cute? I have always adored this elegantly simple (and woefully underrated) design. The most basic of Gibson’s ‘student’ guitars, the single pickup, double cutaway Melody Maker. People are only just waking up to what a hidden gem the Melody Makers are. Gibson has ‘re-issued’ the Melody Maker for the new millennium – but they are nowhere near the same as the very cool originals. Music making at its purest, nothing to get in the way of tone. Very light weight too, which is a bonus. Gorgeous unfaded, vibrant sunburst (unlike some). Expect clean all original examples like this to become cult collectibles (like the equivalent Fender Musicmasters, Duo-Sonics and Mustangs).
